The MISSION of Ovilla Christian school

Ovilla Christian School will cultivate an environment in which followers of Christ may flourish as they become biblical thinkers, lifelong learners, and servant leaders.

Ovilla Christian School is the worldview-shaping arm of Ovilla Road Baptist Church.

Our mission and educational philosophy stem from a comprehensive Statement of Faith. Staff, faculty, students, and parents read this statement annually and conduct themselves in accordance with these beliefs.

Christian Education at Ovilla Christian: a three-fold approach

Christian education is unique in the educational world in its focus on the formation of the whole student—spiritually, intellectually, physically, emotionally, and socially—into a fully devoted disciple of Jesus Christ, well prepared for life in the world while not being of the world.

Spiritual life requires cultivation and nurturing, and this begins in the student’s home and in their local church. Parents are the first and primary teachers of their children as they seek to bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. Ovilla Christian School will continue this work and cultivate an environment in which followers of Christ may flourish as they become life-long learners and servant leaders.

We expect OCS families to be actively involved in a local church body, as this is vital for the health of the Christian. Your school community is not a substitute for membership or active involvement in a church.

HISTORY OF OCS

In the fall of 1992, Ovilla Christian School opened with nine Kindergarten students under the leadership of ORBC pastor Rev. Nick Harris.

Ovilla Christian School has served Ellis and surrounding counties by partnering with parents to teach students through a perspective based on God's Word as revealed truth—a biblical worldview.

PreK–12th grade was completed in the 1997–1998 school year. Our first PreK3 class began in fall 2022, the same year that ORBC Mother's Day Out merged with the school to create the Early Education 2-Day program.

Accreditation

Ovilla Christian School is dually-accredited with the Association of Christian Schools International (grades PreK–12) and AdvancED accreditation. Accreditations are an educational institution's way of verifying the quality of learning standards within the school's campus. With these accreditations, our high school diploma is recognized by the state of Texas and every college or university in the United States. OCS is also a member of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS).
