Full-Time Athletic Director/Football Coach

In alignment with the school’s mission, all staff members have a responsibility to disciple students and actively engage in the OCS community in ways to promote student growth spiritually, academically, physically, socially and relationally. The Athletic Director will:

  • lead the athletic program of the school;

  • plan collaboratively with colleagues and leadership to provide a healthy environment and maximum opportunities for the full development of student-athletes; and

  • contribute intentionally and meaningfully to the stated mission of the school by

    • fostering a college preparatory learning community,

    • developing servant leadership,

    • loving God, and

    • loving people.

Areas of essential duties and responsibilities of the Athletic Director include (but is not limited to):

  • usage by the athletic department of facilities, equipment, and transportation assets

  • work with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) in hiring, supervision, and evaluation of coaching staff

  • prepare and manage the athletic department budget in coordination with the Business Director and ELT

  • plan and coordinate OCS athletic activities with the Texas Association of Private and   Parochial Schools (TAPPS) in accordance with all TAPPS rules and procedures

  • schedule games and ensure that all essential components are in place for the success of all athletic teams

  • plan, coordinate, and supervise the secondary athletic periods and oversee the strength and conditioning program for all athletes

As football coach,

  • responsible for the development of all secondary football players

  • plan, coordinate, and supervise practice and game responsibilities for varsity six-man football in 2019-2020

  • plan for varsity eleven-man football with expected implementation in 2022-2023 school year

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning, education in sports management or sports administration, Masters degree preferred

  • ACSI Certification for Athletic Director

  • Demonstrated experience (at least 3 years) in coaching and in the administration of sports programs

  • A growing relationship with the Lord through the study and application of Scripture

  • An understanding of age-appropriate physical development of student-athletes including their nutritional needs and motor skills development

  • An understanding of discipleship and spiritual developmental needs that is age appropriate for student-athletes

  • Ability to work with students with a variety of athletic capabilities and developmental needs

  • Experience in using technology in support of athletics

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Ability to maintain confidences and use discretion in sensitive student/family matters

  • Personal, active faith in Jesus Christ with a commitment to the mission of Ovilla Christian School and an agreement with the OCS Statement of Faith

Varsity Boys Basketball Coach

  • full-time if hired for one of the available teaching areas; stipend only if unqualified for one of the available teaching areas

  • responsible for the development of all secondary basketball players

  • plan, coordinate, and supervise practice and game responsibilities for the varsity basketball team

Full-Time K4-12 Physical Education Teacher & Coach

In alignment with the school's mission, all teachers have a responsibility to disciple students and actively engage in the OCS community in ways that promote student growth spiritually, academically, physically, socially, and relationally. This position will

  • teach elementary and secondary students in physical education; provide students with appropriate activities and experiences designed for the development of the whole child—spiritually, intellectually, physically, emotionally, and socially;

  • plan collaboratively with colleagues to develop units and implement instruction that is coherent, purposeful, and engaging;

  • coach a minimum of one middle or high school sport as assigned by the Athletic Director; and

  • contribute intentionally and meaningfully to the stated mission of the school by

    • loving people.

Full-Time K4 - 12 Music Teacher

In alignment with the school's mission, all teachers have responsibility to disciple students and actively engage in the OCS community in ways that promote student growth spiritually, academically, physically, socially, and relationally. This position will

  • teach K4-12 music courses that equip students with foundations in music literacy; creative expression; historical and cultural relevance; and critical evaluation and response.

  • plan, prepare and execute special musical performances for elementary and secondary levels.

  • plan collaboratively with colleagues to develop units and implement instruction that is coherent, purposeful, and engaging; and

  • contribute intentionally and meaningfully to the stated mission of the school by

    • fostering a college preparatory learning community,

    • developing servant leadership,

    • loving God, and

    • loving people.

    Full-Time Secondary Math Teacher

In alignment with the school's mission, all teachers have responsibility to disciple students and actively engage in the OCS community in ways that promote student growth spiritually, academically, physically, socially, and relationally. This position will

  • teach secondary mathematics courses that equip students to use mathematical processes to acquire and demonstrate mathematical understanding, solve problems, effectively communicate mathematical ideas, reasoning, and their implication; and

  • plan collaboratively with colleagues to develop units and implement instruction that is coherent, purposeful, and engaging; and

  • contribute intentionally and meaningfully to the stated mission of the school by

    • fostering a college preparatory learning community,

    • developing servant leadership,

    • loving God, and

    • loving people.

Full-Time Secondary Science Teacher

In alignment with the school's mission, all teachers have responsibility to disciple students and actively engage in the OCS community in ways that promote student growth spiritually, academically, physically, socially, and relationally. This position will

  • teach secondary science courses that equip students to use scientific methods of investigation, to use evidence to construct testable explanations and predictions of natural phenomena, to distinguish between scientific decision-making methods (scientific methods) and ethical and social decisions that involve science (the application of scientific information, to analyze a system in terms of its components and how these components relate to each other, to the whole, and to the external environment; and

  • plan collaboratively with colleagues to develop units and implement instruction that is coherent, purposeful, and engaging; and

  • contribute intentionally and meaningfully to the stated mission of the school by

    • fostering a college preparatory learning community,

    • developing servant leadership,

    • loving God, and

    • loving people.
