National Junior Beta Club

The National Junior Beta Club is a leadership-service club whose purpose is to encourage effort and reward merit, and to promote those qualities that make for good citizenship.  The motto is “Let us lead by serving others.”  The Junior Beta Club of Ovilla Christian School extends membership to 6th – 8th grade students.

An invitation to join Junior Beta Club will be extended to those students who qualify in the following areas:  a grade point average of 85 or above; ethical and moral conduct; and a commendable attitude.  Students will attend monthly meetings and engage in community and school service experiences both in groups and as an individual.*

Besides the opportunities for service and leadership that Beta Club offers, the benefits for Beta Club members include the following:  a certificate of membership; a membership card and pin; recognition for achievement in a national organization; and an opportunity to attend the state and national conventions.  The national dues are $15.  The OCS membership dues are $20 per student each year, which includes the cost of the club t-shirt.

An optional activity is to attend the state convention in the spring.  The convention gives the students an opportunity to compete in everything from individual to group talent to academic competitions and even art and crafts competitions.  Students also have opportunities for fellowship with other Beta Clubs from both public and private schools.  6th – 8th grade OCS students are eligible to attend convention.**

Beta Club is a combination honors and service club.  Our students already excel in both these areas, and membership in the club will give them an excellent forum to display their leadership and character.  If you have any questions, please contact sponsor Mrs. Garrett at  If you want more information about the organization, the website is

*The 85 average is based on the grades for the last two grading periods for returning students.  New students interested in joining the club must be enrolled for one quarter at OCS before they are eligible.  Their membership requirements are based on the last quarter of their previous school and the first quarter of their enrollment at OCS.  Service requirements are 10 hours per year for  6th grade.  OCS requires community service hours for 7th and 8th grade students.  Beta Club members must have five hours above the school requirement.

**Students attending convention must be in good standing, i.e. all service, grade, attendance, and behavior requirements.
